I seem to be seeing higher scores lately (not necessarily overall, just specific instances of higher scores). I even scored 400,000 after that other high one. Too bad both were in 4 player limited tourneys and not a VIP or other larger tourney.

For the tournaments, you need to score in the 300K usually to have a chance to place. There are 20 boards to go through, and some are harder than others. Your score depends heavily on getting the multipliers and the order of the boards.

Man this game is brutal, especially finding the rainbow for the bonus pair... A veritable needle in the haystack! I guess becoming more and more familiar helps espeically with the "masterpiece" board... Used to hate now it doesn't seem so tough!

Seriously, I'm excellent at memory games, and I just got my highest score at 40,000. I use the multiplier whenever I can (sometime you just cannot click fast enough to find it's match before it expires). How do people get scores over 100,000 on this game? Is there a strategy I'm missing?
tardyhomemaker
on 02/20/14
laurensmith and 1 others liked this
You *have* to get the multiplier. You can't score highly without it. Once you have enough practice, you will get to a point where you can click fast enough to get it every time. The only exception I've found to this ability improving with practice is on a slower computer. When I play on my daughter's laptop, I can't score above 150,000 because it doesn't work quickly enough. On my own desktop, I regularly score over 300,000.
gmakitty
on 02/25/14
Is the multiplier for ALL the subsequent matches in that board, or for which? How many times does it multiply? If the stars stop flashing, is it only good for the points it posts when you get it? Do you like playing 20 questions with someone you don't even know?? LOL!
tardyhomemaker
on 02/25/14
It is for all the matches on that board (and remaining boards really). If you get the multiplier in the 1st board, you will begin earning 200 points for each match (not pair, but individual match). If you get it on the 2nd board, you will begin earning 300 points/match, etc. If you get all multipliers, you will be earning 2000/match on the last board. See how quickly it adds up when you get the multiplier and why it is essential to get high scores?

If the stars stop flashing, you missed the chance to get the multiplier for that board. You start earning add'l points for the multiplier after you match it not when you start that particular board. If you wait to match until after the multiplier starts flashing, then you will accrue more points because you won't have matched any at the lower rate. I.e. if you wait for it to flash on the first board and that's the first match you get, you won't earn any matches at 100 points, you'll score all matches o
tardyhomemaker
on 02/25/14
Ugh, it cut my reply off.

You'll score all matches at the higher rate of 200/match on that first board if you wait to match the multiplier instead of 100/match for any matches before the multiplier is matched.

I hope that makes sense!

Your score is completely up to chance. Once you can play it all the way through, hitting every multiplier, then your score is solely up to chance. The order the boards are presented determined everything: you can play perfectly, every multiplier and loads of time, and still only score 330,000. So don't fixate on "top scores", because it's random after a certain level of playing ability.

The key to a high score is the placement of the little colours board. At the top multiplier, that's worth nearly 4,000 points per match and there are 20 matches on that board so 80,000 points. Get that first, and it's only worth 100 points per match so a mere 2,000. The little colours decide pretty much everything, though basically you want the higher boards as late as possible-- not that there's *anything* you can do about that.
gmakitty
on 02/10/14
just learning these games with an eye towards entering tournaments as I get better. Question for you: what do you mean by the little colours board? The one with the red, blue and green squares to match? with a rainbow square? Thanks for your help.
antoniakelly
on 02/10/14
Yes, that's the one. It has 20 matches in total.
earninformiles
on 01/16/14

tardyhomemaker

And then there's the worst combination possible...getting the multicolored tile as the multiplier on the little colors board as your very first board!
gmakitty
on 02/10/14
What is the importance of the square that has flashing stars around it during the beginning of the game? Is that the multiplier? How do you know how much it multiplies? When the stars go off, have you lost the multiplying factor? Thanks for your help -- just beginning to learn these games so that I can enter the tournaments at some point.
tardyhomemaker
on 02/10/14
earninformiles liked this
Yes, that is the multiplier. You get an additional one hundred points per tile every round that you match the multiplier. So, if you didn't match the multiplier during any set, you would score 100 points per matched tile during all rounds, however if you match the multiplier during each match and finish all boards, you end up progressively scoring more points per matched tile, up to the last board, where you will score 2000 points per matched tile.

I have no problems running this game at all.. I use firefox, but it might also help that my computer has 4 gigs of ram and 2.6 hertz processing speed. Depends on your computers specs as well as the browser you're using, whether or not you have any viruses on your computer, and how much free memory you have left on your computer. If your memory is almost full or full, it's going to run significantly lower. I'd also like to advise all of you to defragment your hard drive. You should probably do that about once a week ish. Definitely helps speed things up!

How am I suppose to match Greek gods to planets................ I'm not a history teacher!!
singlemommyof2
on 01/14/14
I hate that level, its the one that always slows me down...I don't even bother trying to remember who goes with who I just match pink and blues together super fast and eventually get them lol
earninformiles
on 01/10/14
That one is actually pretty easy other than 2 of them. They're mostly self explanatory. Ares - Mars, the Aries sign has Mars for a planet, Venus = Aphrodite, both females, "women are from Venus" so I figured the all time woman would match up with that one. Hera and Juno.. not sure how I got that, probably because they're both the shortest. Hades and Pluto, the smallest former "planet" for the devil. Just made sense to me. *shrugs* Obviously Poseidon goes with Neptune because they both have to do with the sea and Zeus with Jupiter. <~ I think the Zeus one was just "there" without an explanation. *shrugs* But the last two I usually have issues with, but since it's only four, get to try them till I get them. I believe Kronos is Saturn and Hermes is Mercury.
antoniakelly
on 01/10/14
Yep: Kronos and Saturn are the head of their relevant mythological sets, kind of the patriarchs, so they're that match. Hermes and Mercury are both messenger Gods.

Aries and Mars are both the Gods of war, but that's a heck of a good way of putting it together!

Zeus and Jupiter were considered the most powerful of their groupings, and I *think* they are both the sons of Kronos/Titan. My Roman mythology is a weaker than my Greek, but it's definitely the case that Zeus was the son of Kronos and the mythologies generally match up so it's likely Jupiter was the son of Titan. The planet Jupiter is named for the God due its size and power in the solar system, so he's a good match for Zeus.

It's always odd to me that people find that level hard because I was *obsessed* with Greek/Roman mythology when I was about 13, so I got them immediately :)
antoniakelly
on 01/06/14
gmakitty liked this
You're not matching Greek Gods to planets, you're matching Greek Gods to their Roman equivalent Gods. Some planets are named for Gods, but that's irrelevant to what this asks of you. Mythology, not astronomy.

Just wanted to make that clear for any new players, otherwise it'd be more confusing than it already is. You're asked to match, for example, the Roman God for love with the Greek God for love (Venus and Aphrodite, respectively) -- the fact Venus is a planet doesn't matter. This board seems to cause a lot of difficulty so just trying to iron it out a bit.
earninformiles

I find it easier to associate them with planets instead of looking at the planet names as gods, but yes, you are definitely correct.

Have you tried picking out the most obvious ones and looking for those first? So up, down, left, right -- they're much clearer than the others. So if you find and match those, it reduces the board and then the more difficult diagonal ones are easier to match.
