We have a few of these (mostly used for our computer business), including a 1TB for home storage of videos. These are a dream come true! Due to it using a hard drive, bumping/dropping is not recommended, so one must use caution when moving and setting it down. But, data transfers are quick as is retrieval. We definitely plan on getting more!

i have one of these and paid $50 for it. Price seems high here.

Internally i would assume that it is an SATA type hard drive. You probably could use it for laptop HDD by taking it out if its case....but don't quote me on that as i have not taken my apart...yet. Not sure if the connecters are soldered on or plug in type.

Doesn't the price make it over $300? Just cash out in $5 amazon giftcards, and buy i from amazon, it will likely be around $50 on there.

This would go perfectly with the netbook I'm getting soon. I need that space for all of my photos. Haha. 500GB should be enough for my photos. :)

You bought a 640 GB hard drive for $150? You got ripped off, badly. You can get terabyte hard drives for under $100 easily.

I have this exact same external hard drive. Works perfect, and it's not like the other ones where it has software built into it, and only works on Windows. This will work on Windows, Linux, Unix, and OS 10.
