I don't believe in UFO`s and little green human-things, but i do believe that somewhere, maybe millions of light years away from us, this is some sort of bacteria or something living. the universe is just to big for only one planet to support life

I think it's very stupid/ignorant for someone to think little earth is the only place with life. In such a vast outer space that goes on forever. There HAS to be something/someone else out ther.e

The scientific probability of another planet being able to sustain life is just too high. That being said, I have serious doubts we've ever been 'visited' here on Earth.

My thoughts exactly! They should have had two different answers for 'yes'. One for cough*crazy*cough people who believe in UFOs and alien abductions and all that, and one for people who don't believe that but just think there's probably some other forms of life in the universe.

OF COURSE THERE ARE ALIENS!!!! WITH ALL THE POSSIBLE LIVE-SUSTAINING PLANETS IN THE UNIVERSE, THERE IS LESS THAN A .000001% CHANCE THAT THERE ARE NOT ALIENS!!!!!! YOU GUYS NEED TO GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEADS.

WE ARE DEFINITELY NOT ALONE, the only question is, have we been visited?

There are ten planets in this solar system. There are 100 billion stars in the galaxy. And unknown billions of galaxies in the universe. It only takes one of those stars to support life for there to be aliens. It would be supremely egotistical of us to think we're the only ones.

The real question would be "Do you think aliens have visited Earth?"

He's a science theory for how live got to earth... just a THEORY. Some scientist believe that Mars use to be able to support life, but a large asteroid hit the planet causing parts of it to break off, ruining its atmosphere, and etc. many of the parts that broke off came to earth , which had all things needed to support life (such as water, atmosphere, etc.)and that's how some scientists believe life was started on earth. AKA we are the aliens.

Sooo., Let Us create man in Our Own Image ? Who's Our ? Now., God created the Heavens' ( Planets ) and the Earth. So now.,it is mentioned that Angels come down from Heaven/Heavens', to administer to men ( human beings), and being these Angels'., how can it not be said that Angels' are the Aliens'? And think on this..., " What is a whirlwind of fire ??????, is this how most of the Angels' realy did travel ? After all there are Angels that are here on Earth with us , but you do not know them as Angels' . Do they realy have wings, or was it an illusion from the winds' ? Ther is a lot we do not accually know about the creations of such, and we can not even percieve what they all realy may or may not be.., God di promise this in the Bible.., that we will not know untill He reveals all of this, if He even chosses to tell us all of it. Sometimes we can be so ungratefull as to what we have or are given, and i would not blame Him if He did not

Actually, there is a passage in the Bible that states that there ARE other worlds beyond this. Think it's in Revelations or somewhere near the end of the Bible. One of the Bible's many messages is that we should try be humble, which, Bible or not, is a darn good idea. I mention this because I think it's pretty arrogant of anyone to assume we are the only beings in the entire Universe. Personally, it would be very sad if we are the best that the Universe could produce ;-)

I never offend people who use the bible to slove there problems I am god believer myself but that is one religion many people have tons of other religions some don't exist anymore it true. Why based you answer on something that 2/10 of people might agree and have no evidence to people who believe in other things. Best thing you should base your answer is science it what help us till now with electricity and technology it what people have been agreeing to slove their problems. So do aliens exist you cant ignore the facts I do believe but I don't think we will find them yet we are a tiny speck in our universe they are many other specks. Actually there is a planet near a solar system that has earth like features maybe that will lead us closer to the truth.

Would you believe them??
mgtheman
on 06/10/13
No. Everyone knows CNN isn't trustworthy.

Seriously, though, it would require some harder evidence than a simple declaration. "We have seen aliens?" Sure, also "we don't torture," and "we will be greeted as liberators in Iraq." If NASA had actually communicated with aliens, they would be derelict in their duties as scientists if they announced the presence of the aliens without also divulging the full contents of all communications sent or received (raw data, no "translations" or "interpretations"), the manner of transmission, and the origin and destination of all communications.

Serioulsy? wow I can't believe people still think we are the only intelligent life in the entire unexplored universe.... These are the same offspring from the idiots who thought the world was flat... wow how dissapointing.
mgtheman
on 06/10/13
There is almost certainly life out there. However, intelligence is probably not as common or as advantageous as most people think it is; despite a wide range of environments and several mass extinction events, intelligence only evolved once, only very recently, and since then we've used it to almost wipe ourselves out once and we're about to try again.

Also keep in mind, intelligence doesn't mean technology; to invent, say, radio transmission, a species must be not only intelligent but naturally society-forming, since it would be impossible to invent that technology in a single generation or to pass on the knowledge without language, and language arises to help form societies among naturally social species.

And even given intelligence and society, the development of technology requires reason and some form of scientific progress; we've been intelligent for maybe 20,000 years, but we've been capable of radio broadcasting for maybe 150.
mgtheman
on 06/10/13
So basically, the universe is full of non-intelligent life, a handful of species that are intelligent in a raw problem-solving sense but don't form societies, a handful of species that are intelligent and society-forming but don't develop technology because their society suppresses inquiry and curiosity as an affront to their god, and maybe a species that developed modern technology but wiped themselves out in a nuclear war or through environmental destruction.

"Believe in"? What, are aliens spirits or gods now? No, I don't "believe in" aliens, alien life either exists or doesn't exist - it's science, not religion. That said I think life elsewhere in the universe is more likely than not. It's a big universe after all.

The problem with this poll is that I can't choose none of the above. At the moment, there is no evidence for the existence of aliens however due to modern advancements in our understanding of the universe, there are so many planets, solar systems, and galaxies out there (some of which we already know have a similar atmosphere to our own as well as water) that have the potential to harbour life.
