I used to take them every time I shopped until I was falsely accused of shoplifting at Walmart. Yep, I was taken to the security office, read the riot act and was then slapped in handcuffs and then pushed into a police car and taken to jail! What a nightmare! I had a court date two months later and the judge was outraged that the DA even let it go to court to waste her time and to put me through what I went through. My case was thrown out of court and my record cleared. Walmart is NOT always right. They didn't even send the security video to my attorney or to the DA - which throws up a HUGE red flag. Take it from me, stand up for yourself and don't go through what I did.

IM a cashier and I was a bagger before being cashier And I hate those bag so much ! its pointless to use them if you are going to ask plastic for your damn meat or chicken! And also its disgusting when the owner of the stupid bag has all dog/cat hair on the bag all over it ! im allergy to dog and cats and Once i touched i get the itchy feeling all day long ! So I dont use bag for the grocery store but Sometimes i buy them for crochet's projects and that's it I feel sorry for the bagger that have to bag those annoying bags and I dont want to be mean to them !

LMAO I feel for you. I used to cashier and people would have colds and flu, poor personal hygiene, dogs/cats (WITH THEM), and even some floppy dirty canvas bag that they want all their goods in... No bueno.

The city I live in require people to ue paper or the reusable bags. Plastic bags are banned in Seattle. I always clean my bags and make sure they are in good repair.

I'm also a bagger and cashier and I have reusable bags. Sure, they're harder to bag, but the reason the environment is doing so badly is because we care too much about convenience. And no, it's not pointless if they ask for plastic for the meat. They're still using much less plastic and the meat is bagged separately for health reasons.

I do! Each and every time and have for over five years. We have to in our area or we are charged for the plastic bags and most places don't even have bags available any more so it's working and I'm so happy to be contributing to saving our planet!

My city has a bylaw that has banned plastic bags. We have to bring our own, buy our own cloth ones from the store, or carry our groceries out with no bags.

I use the disposable bags for things around the house, but our town has recently banned all plastic shopping bags. Most stores have paper bags now, but some actually charge for them, and most of them don't have handles. Since I walk, carrying paper bags home without ripping them can be difficult, so I've had to buy reusable ones. Now if I can just remember to bring them with me when I go shopping, I'll be all set.

I use the store plastic bags, but I recycle them by returning them to the store's recycle bin when I have more than I can use. I shop for a month at a time, sometimes more, so I'd have to have a ton of bags on hand if I bought my own. I also use them for trash bags, packing material, etc, and recycle the rest, so I don't feel anything is being wasted, and if something leaks it's in plastic, so doesn't leak through the bag.

The Giant Tiger stores in Canada take 3c off your total for every reusable bag you use. Not much but it's better than paying 5c most stores charge for each one you get from them.

I keep them in the trunk of my car and have made it part of my routine to grab a few before going into any store. If I happen to forget them, I will just put all of my items back in the cart and take them to the car that way. Then when I get home I bring my bags out, load the stuff into the bags, and take it into the house. I also use reusable produce bags.

One of the stores by me charges for bags. I buy the paper bags. They're great for yard waste. The plastic bags I get free at other stores I use for garbage or recycle them on a future trip. I do own reusable bags but they end up stuffed with hats, gloves, and scarves for the next winter.

I have a TON of reusable bags. I first bought some then I started getting them free when I went to festivals and such. Half the time I forget to take them in though. But I don't throw away my plastic bags (empty at least). The plastic bags are either used as my trash bags for the bathroom or they are used when I scoop litter. When I collect way too many at home, I donate them to Goodwill. They use them for their customers. It saves them money.

Not worth it when you can get and use them for free. Some places even give you money off per bag brought AND used. So it becomes a 100% money~maker! Buying bags results in a loss, even if you make your money back from using them.

I keep a small fold-up bag in my purse for quick trips - it's hard to forget it when it's right there with my loyalty car and wallet. I have several larger bags that I bring for bigger trips. Once I prepare a shopping list and print my coupons, I place the list on top of one of my bags so I don't forget it.
