the question for March 17th was poorly worded. Gives the impression that another color was originally associated with St. Patty.

The color of St Patrick is Blue. Green is Ireland's national color. Green has been gradually accepted over time as the color of St. Patrick's day for numerous reasons. Most famously, the 3 leaf clovers St. Patrick used to teach Christianity, less known (but set the standard) the Irish Rebellion of 1798. Irish soldiers wanted to get the attention of the government and wore bright green uniforms. Last but not least, when the color fades, it tends to turn into a shade of green. Green is easily accepted for how green the land is, but Blue is the true color of St. Patrick

I never would have thought blue. I'm surprised orange isn't a color option. I'm sure a lot of people would have picked it if it was. We probably all suspected it wasn't green when we read the question and orange is the only color I've ever heard of being associated with St Patty's day as the protestant alternative and while I know (or I think) the orange alternative came after green I would have picked orange anyway if it was one of the options because my thinking when I saw the question was "no it can't be green that would be too easy."

Yeah, I'm sure you've never been ignorant about a single thing in your entire life. The Irish are the ones that gradually introduced green as the (now) accepted color of the holiday. But F**** the Americans with their ignorance. I mean, none of us know how to use the Internet for research.

St Patrick's original colour was blue - that's why Prince William's Irish Guards wear a blue feather hackle in their bearskin caps - it's St Patrick's BLUE.

Green may be the national color of Ireland, but the color most associated with St. Patrick is blue. The Order of St. Patrick was established in 1783 as the senior order of chivalry in the Kingdom of Ireland. The color associated with the honor needed to differentiate it from the Order of the Garter (dark blue) and the Order of the Thistle (green). So they went with a lovely shade of sky blue.
