No, but in 4th grade I wanted to change my name. I feel sorry for my teacher because I'd just write anything on my paper on the name line without regard to the fact that I needed my name on the paper to get credit. She never said anything, and I always got credit. I'll be a student teacher this fall, and I hope no one does this to me!

I wouldn't change my name, just the spelling of it. It's Gillian and I would change it to Jillian. Only because my entire life (even now) people mispronounce it. Gillian sounds like Jillian. But people to this day say it with a hard G, as in garage. I always said I would change it after my parents died, but it's been 12 years so guess I never will at this stage of my life. Plus, I think making the change on everything would be a big PITA!

I legally changed mine years ago because I HATED my birth name my whole life. It cost a bit of $$ for a paralegal to help me and for the court fees, but it's some of the best money I ever spent! I love my name now :)

I love the way my name sounds when said out loud, but if a person reads it off a piece of paper or tries spelling it, they almost always get it wrong. So I may or may not change it because I don't really like the other variations of the spelling of my name.

Maybe, but probably not. There are some names I like better than my own, but my name has history behind it. It would just be a slap to the faces of my parents who debated a long 9 months over my name. But then again, it's extremely irritating when people mispronounce my name. I mean, you would never think people could mix up Kelsey and Kelly so frequently.

My first name is Bazolele which is a tongue twister for most people and I can't even begin to count on how many times it's been butchered. It used to be something that I was embarrassed about but now I have embraced it. It's my name and it represents who I am and where I come from.

In high school, all I talked about was turnign 18 and changing my first name to ANYTHING else. Not that my name was so bad, but as a Jennifer born in the early 80s, there were SO many of us. My graduating class had 14 people named Jennifer, and I hated it. In the decade since then, I've not really thought about it. I changed my last name when I got married, but now that I'm not forced to associate with a ton of other people born at the same time, it isn't so bad.

My husband did change the spelling of his first name and his middle and last names when he turned 18, to distance himself from the abusive drug addict who fathered him. He changed it all to match his maternal grandfather's name instead. I didn't know him at the time, but it's still a pain in the butt, because any time he needs to use his birth certificate for ID, he also has to provide a copy of the legal documents detailing the change.
