Last time I went camping the same chipmunk crawled into the garbage bag at least a dozen times. We named him Porkchop cuz he took dragged half of an uneaten porkchop out of the back when we let him out and just sat there eating it. I didn't even know chipmunks liked porkchops.

even as a kid I could not sleep in a tent with bugs crawling around, and crickets and frogs hollering, and creepy sounds, hard rocks under the sleeping bag..........I wish it had been fun, I'm not sure what people get out of it, I love my soft bed and quiet room LOL

I love camping, But I hate getting arrested.
Just because I find great camping locations on the front lawns of famous celebrities.
Everybody gets jealous of my spots, and they call the police to take my spot from me.

You should try BC for celebrity camping. It is okay to camp on crown land for free so you would be restricted to BLVDs in front of your preferred destination. Apparently this holds true for all of Canada.

Basic recreational use of a localized area, by individuals or groups. For example: camping on Crown land and the normal ground disturbance associated with this activity.

Is an RV or cabin really camping? I could see if you had like one of those little awnings on an RV and slept beside it there, that could still be camping. But in a cabin you're more just staying in the woods, not camping. Foolishly, I chose "Yes, and if it's camping, I like it!" because although I've never used an RV or been to a cabin, that sounds fun. But I guess I wouldn't call that camping if I did do it. Every time I've been camping it was in a tent or in a sleeping bag, no tent. Once I slept in my car, but the other people with us had a tent, and we spent as much time as possible not in the car, because although it was comfy, I was afraid we would suffocate somehow.

...Why would you suffocate in your car? It's a car, not a refrigerator. As long as the engine's not on (carbon monoxide buildup) and it's not super-hot and sunny with the windows rolled up, there is no way you could suffocate.

on 04/11/13
I didn't explain. . . we slept in our sleeping bags in the car because we'd planned to open-air it and it was getting a little rainy near bedtime, plus the ground was moist. Which was also why I didn't want to leave window/s open.

I also camped out on a beach and got bitten by birdmites and shoved by a seal. When I went to bathe- the sharks would come- excited by the splashing. I learned to take a quick bath in the salt water-used salt water soap and all. Later, I learned to heat my own water in a pouch and used that - better than looking out for sharks.

I had a scorpion next to my pillow. It attacked my tentmate though. I also got stung by wasps in the outdoor shower after bathing with lavendar soap. But it was fun. I also never knew I slept on rocks and a tree root the whole summer until we removed that tent.

I'm a little bit of a germaphobe, so I'll only go camping if there's running water, flushing toilets, soap, and toilet paper. And I'm a girl, so... It's easier for men to go camping because they can just pee anywhere and don't wash their hands or care about hygiene, anyway, so it's normal for them. ;)

Having camped a lot with my ex, all the campsites we were at had running water, bathrooms with toilets, toilet paper, and showers. At campgrounds it is pretty standard that you bring your own soap.

Try the state or national parks! Many, if not all of them, supply the amenities you're looking for (except for the soap). Altho we always bring TP just in case!

Sorry, but sleeping in an RV or cabin isn't "camping," you're just taking it all with you. Real camping requires a bit more wilderness know-how and survivalist type activities. Going to Stuff-Mart on the way, pulling an RV into a spot with water and electric hook-ups and roasting wienies over an open flame isn't camping; that's just trading scenery. I understand if a person has physical limitations that require sleeping in a bed, but fear of critters? Really? You can get bit by a multitude of creepy crawlies in your own backyard!

Good thing that's just your opinion. You camp your way. I'll camp my way. It's not nice to make belittling sentences that amount to how it's not camping unless it's done your way. Everyone has their preferences and are completely entitled to them.

You don't know fear of bugs unless your childhood mornings consisted of rinsing some 20 crickets back down the kitchen sink and screaming at the top of your lungs for an hour for someone to smash the crickets on your bedroom wall. To this day, I am traumatized by encounters with exoskeletals. There is nothing wrong with wishing to avoid such psychological distress! Camping is not solely about sleeping outside, anyway. There are plenty of experiences to be enjoyed other than sleeping- s'mores, drinking, stargazing, etc.

That's just your view of it... but recall that the "R" stands for recreational. Camping is a recreational activity. Nothing, including 'home,' is being brought along unless any given individual does so (whether they know it or not). Some people,. such as me, aren't as 'outdoorsy' as others and would prefer the enclosure of an RV as opposed to a camper or even a tent.

Used to love it but every single time it rains and ruins our trip. We mainly used to do it to save money but honestly it always ends up costing more to camp than the deals we can find online at nice places.
