M-ma-ma-ma-michigan was 4 degrees yesterday! Winter is usually dreary and dreadful. We hibernate & our fun money goes to paying the heat bill!

Haha I thought the same thing! Single digit weather isn't that bad. Now, negative double digit weather sucks, which is most of what we get in January and February where I live.

I am from the mountains of West Virginia. It's been single digits here most of the week.
Expecting a foot of snow accumulation by the end of the day. That's better than
when Hurricane Sandy hit as we got 3 feet of snow then. Living here all my life
we know to get ready for the Winter....We start preparing in the Summer ;)

I am from North Dakota where my Grandmother's farm was 12 miles south of Canada and on the edge of a weather anomaly called the alberta clipper. The land is flat there all the way to the north pole; the wind and freezing cold would come straight down that anomaly. On the East side of the farm and highway it would be a ragging blizzard and minus 10 degrees. Keep driving another 1/2 mile and it is a wall of white that turns into bright cold sunshine, no wind, 10 degrees above. The bus driver hated my side of the road.

Grew up in Colorado...lowest temperature experienced was -24 degrees. There is a weird crunch/snap sound when you walk. The steam from your breath starts to crystalize sometimes. There is an eerie total "quiet" sound outside.

One time we were visiting friends in Vermont for 2 weeks, and one night somewhere in the middle of those 2 weeks, the windchill was -50 degrees F. We did NOT go outside. It probably would have seemed a bit otherworldly, and we hadn't brought any coats/gear warm enough for that.
