The adults in my family all draw names to buy for someone and spend a good amount of money on and then all the adults still buy for the kiddos.

Same here for my husband and my extended family but with our immediate family (parents & siblings) we buy each a present & I try to get as many stocking stuffers as possible both for extended & immediate family. Just small inexpensive things.

There's no way for me to answer this poll. All my family has passed away (mother and father and am an only child). So although I'm not getting gifts for my family, I am getting gifts for friends. So none of these answers fit for me.

Even though my parents passed away when I was young, I did have one sister. She passed a few years ago. But I do still have 2 living children (one passed away when he was 16). I am glad you have friends to celebrate with. I am grateful I have my kids. My daughter won't be with us much longer, since she is dying of a fatal form of a neurological disorder. It's really sad to think of all those we have lost, but we have to power on and be the strongest survivors we can be. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas with your friends. I am sure you parents are looking down on you and celebrating with you, even if you don't realize this. As long as we remember, they will always be with us.

We get everyone gifts. However, since the only females in the house are myself and my mother, we are the primary shoppers for Christmas gifts. The guys are just really awkward about shopping and they have to ask me along to help them shop for the rest of the family. It's pretty ridiculous considering we never get help from them on what they might like for presents.

I marked we get everyone gifts because it was the closest to how I gift for holidays. I buy for my four children, my nephew (who lives with me), my boyfriend's three children, my boyfriend, my parents, and my step-parents. That is my family. I am not close to my extended family or my brother. I truly enjoy buying for my family because the are the most selfless people I know so it is fun spoiling them.

If it's the thought that counts and you choose not to get someone a gift then.....?
We buy for our kids, our siblings, parents, grandparents and friends that are like family. We also adopt a less fortunate family and supply their household gifts "from Santa". It's the only time I use the Santa bit. My kids were never told that he was real. Face it, a strange man creeping into your house at night goes against pretty much everything we ever told the kids about safety!

It really amazes me that some people manage to get into a little tiff regarding these polls. It is suppose to be a fun little poll to earn Swagbucks not a place to criticize everything. Who cares if they don't have the exact answer you're looking for, just pick the one that's close and move on. I rarely ever comment one here and thankfully I rarely read the comments.

My husband and I give each other gifts & we give our 2 children gifts although they're in college. Our children give us gifts as well because they choose to. I also give my nieces & nephews gifts. Some are mentioning age limits (to each it's own) I personally do not see what age has to do with giving gifts. I will always give my kids & husband gifts...it's what we do.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL!! :-D

In my family the adults draw names but they are not secret and give gifts to all the kids. You are considered a kid until after high school graduation (and the Christmas after we still leave them with the kids - their "grace period" Christmas.)

Actually I think if you're over 12 years old you shouldn't get gifts anymore. I think it's pathetic when a man in his 30s still asks his mommy and daddy for gifts.

You are a bitter little person. People give gifts because they WANT to no matter what the age is and pity your 12 yo child sitting there opening nothing as the younger kids get something. Shame on you for your heartlessness.

Some people love giving gifts, why should they have to stop giving just because the recipient is grown? My family just had the discussion of continuing to buy for everyone, or starting a gift exchange, and everyone agreed they love giving the gifts and just wouldn't feel joyful if they only gave one gift.

Fine. Feel free to waste money you don't need to waste. Sounds like you guys miss the true meaning of Xmas, like most people, and make it solely about the gift buying. Funny thing is, all the gifts you get are not even essential items, usually electronics and other unneeded junk.

Waste money? I enjoy giving gifts and it isn't about the buying for me it is about finding a gift that will truly delight and or/be useful to the person. It is the thought you put into the gift. All the gifts not useful - hah! Lets see one year I gave my daughter tires for her car. This year I'm giving her a snap top trash can because her dog keeps getting in the trash and a convertible car seat for the baby. Last Christmas I gave her a rocking chair for the baby nursery. I've been overjoyed to receive a step stool from my husband for Christmas because he thought about it and knew I needed one. I've gotten plenty of useful gifts - such as flannel sheets, a comforter, pots and pans, ect....

Myth: “Xmas” is a non-religious name / spelling for “Christmas”.
It turns out, “Xmas” is not a non-religious version of “Christmas”. The “X” is actually indicating the Greek letter “Chi”, which is short for the Greek, meaning “Christ”. So “Xmas” and “Christmas” are equivalent in every way except their lettering.

Good luck finding a pay phone in this century if you're out & don't have a cell phone & need to make a emergency call, and who wants to keep running to the library to use computers because you don't own one. I have 2 college students & computers are an essential part of their assignments & even some school age children with the assignments given today. Times have changed either people choose to keep up or get left behind :-/ :-)

Santa is stupid. People have changed Santa from the character he originally was. And there are people who are black which complain about Santa being white. I mean come on! That is ridiculous! By no means should anyone get upset because Santa doesn't have the same skin color. Santa is just a fictional character! Sorry for my ranting. Anyway my family does not do the Santa thing. Santa just takes away attention from the real meaning of Christmas.

Christmas gifts and Christmas can be non religious. It is what you make of it. It isn't a religious holiday for my husband, kids, and I. It might be for some of our relatives but not for us. Yes Christmas does have pagan and christian roots - it also has root in celebration of winter.

None of these. Exchange names for adults - but we know who is buying for whom. Kids are given things by everyone (up until about age 19 - they get the Christmas after graduating high school to still be part of the kids then they are put in the drawing the Christmas after that).
