They might be on your shopping list, but on an impulse....
you buy Wheat or White....1%, 2% or non-fat...

When I go shopping, I know exactly what I want, and run in to get those items and nothing else. Not deviating from your shopping list is the best and easiest way to save money.

I'm finding a few of these comments very off putting, as if not impulse shopping makes the poster superior to those frivolous, lesser-being impulse shoppers. I understand that money is tight, but we're human. :( I'm 100% guilty of adding those Oreos to my cart, bonus if they're on sale.

I always shop online, I do all my Christmas shopping online. Only things I don't buy online is groceries. All you people doing shopping in stores are getting ripped off even on days like black Friday, no sales tax day, ect.

That depends where and how you shop. I am a bargain hunter, and frequently find those items in a brick and mortar stores that have been marked down 90% or more, discounts that likely wouldn't be found on the retailer's website as they're often up to the manager's discretion. And there are no shipping charges.

I can't buy a whole lot of groceries online - have tried. Rural parts of Canada just don't seem to have them available. Our coupons tend to have very little value, too. Twenty five cents off of what and the item can't be on sale or the coupon is not accepted, one coupon per customer, etc. :p

I tend to shop for groceries, we plan what we need and do fairly well sticking to it. The only other time we really go shopping is when we need something. We've gone window shopping a few times and bought nothing. My husband and I are both millwrights, so we'll check to see what tools are on sale, because that's the only time to buy them is when they're on sale. We'll buy what we need if we can afford to and that's enough, but that's about as impulsive as we get.

When I'm shopping online I can put the item I want in my shopping cart and think about for a few days before I actually purchase it, but when I'm at the store, I feel like I really need that item because it's already physically in my hands.

Online because I would see the same things in the stores (ex: As seen on TV) and not want it but when I see it online I want it! I guess cause online they show pictures but in the real store you see the physical item and box.
