My brother and I were overachievers and my parents expected it. B's or below were unacceptable in our household. My parents were the type of people that were proud of our grades but if we came home with a 98 they wanted to know why we didn't get a 100 on the test. Excessive? Yes. We did get a free ride through college though. My mom had to drop out of high school to work & my dad barely made it through HS and they wanted better for us. I graduated high school early and was valedictorian. My brother was as well and later was the top student at his 4 year university which was the top university in our state and one of the best in the entire south. I'm still in college and hope to do just as well. It was worth all the work and pressure.

Not trying to be mean. I've just always been curious. How does one fail p.e.?
footemama
on 08/14/13
By not dressing in their gym clothes and participating. I always got an A in P.E. but I participated way more as a freshman than I did later. I played kickball and tried to win versus going into the "outfield" and standing around waiting for the ball to come to me maybe. LOL But dressing and standing in a designated spot counts as participation. I never understood why someone would choose to fail P.E.

If you could chose 2 and they made more an average of scores maybe it would be more accurate.

Or maybe if they asked it as GPAs. Most people would be more likely to remember GPA too

Either that or there's massive grade inflation going on. Or swagbucks just attracts the best and the brightest :)

First off this question is difficult to answer and most people got a mix and might have different grades at different times in their life.

Second, this just shows how college and even graduate school doesn't equal all the promises these schools make to get your money.

Highly doubtful most people typically got A's. Definitely a sign of a watered down grading system. Either that or people just picked the first answer in the poll...LOL

I work in a high school and D's do not exist any longer. C- is the lowest grade before F
elfennau
on 08/12/13
In the school you work in they don't exist anymore. Having both children in school and many friends either in school or with children in school in a lot of places in the country, they still exist in most places in the US.
samples0876
on 08/12/13
So, you're saying, at the school you teach at, anything below 70% is an F?? Yeah, that's definitely NOT the case with all schools. I have a struggling student. D's still exist. Still not acceptable, but not an F. Our local high school hasn't adopted that system yet, that's for sure. I DO consider a D just as bad as an F. In my mind, below 70% is failing. That's just my thinking though.

I go to high school and let me tell you that yes D's do still exists. I get mostly A's sometimes an occasional B, but a lot of my friends have huge D's on their transcripts.

It depended on the class but I'd get D's & F's in Math because I've always been abysmal in it. My Math teachers usually didn't care to help me, I suppose I was too much work & I stopped asking for help. I'd get A's in English & Art & B's in everything else. Not until my eighth grade Math teacher Mr. B, that I grasped Math. He was great. :)

This poll made it very hard for me to answer. I strove for the best grades possible until about 7th grade with the exception of 3rd grade. Then the moving started and all my grades flipped and flopped around until my senior year when I held a 4.0 average that I carried into college when I went 10 years later. I discovered that I love learning and though it has taken another 12 years, I am going back to college and hope to once again hold close to a 4.0 while I get my teaching certificate.

I do wonder if a few people didn't fib about their grades, but I choose to believe we have a smart set of people here. We all are earning money by doing a little searching and polls. That seems smart to me!

It depends on whether you mean high school, college, or grad school. I practically failed out of high school but did great in the other two. Maybe the 44% A's is inflated b/c voters are picking their best "school" instead of averaging them all.
