I was in Target shopping and a hispanic man stole my cell from my purse. Upon checking out I realized it was gone. Security helped me and my husband was calling the cell from our house and a hispanic man answered. Finally, when I got home, he thought I had been kidnapped. I called the cell phone and the hispanic man answered and said "NO INGLI" and when I said police, he said ok. So I told him to return the phone to Target. He never did, but we shut the service off immediately. Whats so sad is the pictures that werer on the phone. What a jerk. Remind me to check the swagstakes for a phone.

1. How do you know he stole your phone? Did you physically see him lift the phone out of your purse or are you assuming your phone was stolen because it wasn't in your purse anymore and another person had it in their possession? Is it possible it fell out, you put it down, etc?

2. So let's assume your phone IS stolen...I read your comment several times over, I fail to see the importance of this man being Hispanic to your story. He could have easily spoke English, said to you "I don't know you" or some other irrelevant comment when you first called, ok call the police and never returned the phone to Target. Unless you needed to point out he was Hispanic because that's why your husband "thought you were kidnapped" (a bit extreme don't you think) then it seems his race and/or nationality is irrelevant to your story.

someone else lost it for me. And now it has been two years or more and I want and need one. I hope to get a fifty dollar wal mart giftcard sometime soon, so it can go to a cellphone.

Advice: To make sure you don't drop your cell phone in the toilet as you use it, don't put your phone in your front or back pockets.

I can't believe the % of people who have not lost their phones permanently. I am ashamed to admit but I have lost a few phones by now (3 phones to be exact). But only once was I not aware where and when. The other two times I realized where and when I have left it but it was already after someone with sticky fingers came across it first.

I said yes because someone stole mine at a bar. Luckily it wasn't that great of a phone, but I loved it. Of course that was about 9 years ago.

can anyone literally think what the world will be like if people did not even have Smartphones??
ushimon
on 04/07/13
Well, if you were around at least 6 years ago, you probably know what the world was like. ;) Still remember when everyone was walking around the streets looking up, and people read books on the bus. Seems like a long time ago.

I also feel fortunate that cell phones didn't become popular until maybe 3 years after high school. I mean, imagine going to school where no one has cell phones. Crazy now, huh? (Although I must admit, I am kinda curious how it would be like growing up in the mobile world, I could see a few advantages over my generation, albeit not sure if those advantages outweigh the big craziness side..)

I've lost three phones and I live in NYC, so there is honestly like a 0.5 percent chance that the person who found it is kind enough to answer and return it. Out of the three I lost, I've had one person actually answer and meet me at my local Starbucks to give it back. That was unexpected and awesome.

Thieves immediately turn the ringer or phone off so the phone can't be found. And if a phone has a sim card in it then they take it out so the phone can't be found. It can't be found every time.

We save a lot of money by not having a land line - it'c cheaper paying a monthly bill for 2 cell phones. If you ever drop your phone in the toilet, or other water, immediately get the battery out and put in a bowl of dry rice for at least 24 hours. Works like a charm.
