Couldn't get it to work right... I have met several people in different places on the internet and they have become great friends. I am very cautious about it but I'm married and have been for 35 years so I'm not looking for a relationship. The ladies I have met have been at different times in my life and I enjoy doing things together with them.

I met my husband on here in a christian chat room and we have been married now 12 years. I would not trade that for anything yet I will say that my first marriage was scarcely similar to moneysaver12345 and I agree with her, it can go bad no matter how you meet them if it is going to. Be careful and meet in public safe places and don't assume that they are safe.

I met my husband online and we've been married going on 10 years. I met my EX husband in person and he is the one that nearly put me in the grave. It's not HOW you meet, it's WHO you meet. Everyone is different. Whether I met my ex online or in person, he was destined to have psychopathic tendencies. For those considering an online friend ship or romance. Make it a public meeting, get to know them first same as an in person dating.

I also answered yes because, we've bought some large items off Ebay, that we have picked up instead of delivered. So I've met several people. Just have to be careful, same as in person.

I met my husband online 10 years ago! I know several people who have met their spouses online. I met mine through AOL chat, had 2 friends meet their spouse on Myspace ( way back before everyone moved to Facebook), and had 1 friend meet her husband on a sports forum!

one of my mother-in-law's friends recognized a friend's name from a post of another friend. they went to high school together . dated. lost touch after each went to different colleges & one of the parents moved out of state. they lived 20 minutes away. didn't realize that. met for lunch. got married 6 mo. after that. that was several years ago.

Too chicken nope just careful I don't want to end up in the obitury for an online friendship or asulted, it's nice that some people are married to their online friends but I prefer getting to know someone face to face

Those of you looking at my post & juging me should realize safety is just as importaunt then meeting a new friend because not every online in person meeting has a happy ending in fact there has been many reported tragidys so laugh as you might but being careful is smart not chicken.

I've gone to meet online friends from a Christian moms forum, and every one of them, known online for several years, were exactly who they claimed to be. Not a "Bob the Ax Murderer" in the bunch! (Also not a romantic meetup, just friends.)

Gee, I see they have yesterday's results (and poll) BUT I checked numerous times yesterday and all I could find was the poll from the previous day. (Monday)
I wonder what time they posted Tuesday's poll? (I usually do mine anytime from 4-8 a.m. everyday)
Does anyone know?

"No, but I'm currently in an online relationship." LOL ...So how does that work? I think sb may have had a lack of poll idea's and had to pick through a lot of terrible ones. "No, but I have at least one genuine friend I've met online." I thought the question was if "you've gone on to meet them in person."? That answer contradicts the question. Plus how can someone be your friend if you've never met them? I can act nice, talk nice to you, listen to you, but that does not mean we are friends nor does it mean I want to be. This is (and let me put it so most of you will understand me) "lame!".

I'm a gamer and 'met' some of my really good friends over on xbox live. After countless hrs, days, weeks of gaming with certain people they do become your friends. I'm glad I've 'met' my best friend online, because at the end of a crappy day, all we do is have fun playing games and laugh like if we've always known each other.
chellethecat

First, you can certainly be friends with someone you've never met. This happened LONG before the internet. Have you never heard of pen-pals? I had one back when I was younger, we were very close friends, talked on the phone several times and everything yet we never got to meet. There's a guy I met almost 20 years ago now, have been friends all that time, talk when we can, exchange mail, gifts, etc... and we still have not been able to meet. Doesn't change the fact that he is one of my closest and best friends and we hope that when one of us can afford the flight across the ocean we will be able to meet one day.

Secondly, it is possible to be in a relationship with someone you haven't gotten to meet yet. This is what it means by an "online relationship". It's a shame you have such a narrow view and definition of what friendship is and can be.

Friendships come in all "sizes". I had an online friend for over 20 years that I met in one of the original chat rooms when the internet was still up and coming and all we had was dial-up connections. He died recently, I mourned his loss and still miss him. I probably knew more about him and his family than I do my real time friends. We could chat and email about just about anything. Have deep discussions on many different topics and asked each other for advice. We had always said that some day he, me and our spouses would meet up someday before we die. Sorry to say that is too late for that now. When I read his obit he was everything I thought he was and more. Unlike most guys on the internet that try hitting on you by saying " my wife doesn't understand me yadda, yadda yadda he couldn't have said enough good things about his wife. So, YES you can truly be friends with people you meet online even if you never met them personally. This is modern day pen pals. :

I have several friends that I met through a game I play, we are friends on facebook as well. They don't live near me so I haven't met them in person, but we do play online together and chat often. But just because I haven't physically met them doesn't mean they aren't my friends. lol

I'm a gamer on xbox and although I've never met anyone in person I have made many friends online from all over the U.S. One of my best friends on there is 16 (im 26 but he is like my little brother) have been gaming together for almost a year. We share many mutual friends on xbox. Our buddy is in the U.S Army stationed in Alaska who plays with us whenever he can. Even though we may never meet they are better friends than some people I have met in my life.

Yep, I've met about a dozen friends from Xanga and a forum from a program called Generation Joshua for high schoolers wanting to be involved in politics. It's always been in public without giving out addresses and when I was a teenager my mom was there too. There was always a mutual event or place where we would meet - a convention, speech and debate tournaments, dog show, 2 museum meets, and a couple amusement parks.

I also indirectly met my husband online. He met a girl on Match.com. They only went out a few times and it didn't work out, but she invited him to church. I has just started going to it, and liked him pretty much from when I met him. We're both still friends with the other girl too! She's a hair stylist and actually did my hair for our wedding.
