it's funny how people think they doctors.....anybody can get it....just because. cancer has no name color, sex or age.....so be real Chandra108. just being outside can give you skin cancer so,....there are people out there who has very busy lives and a microwave. There are people out there that don't have the money to buy organic.

It's true anyone can get cancer, but there are also ways to decrease your chances of getting it.

on 01/05/13
At least read this first article! http://www.naturalnews.com/022015_microwave_oven_power.html Also american doctors only care about money not health, they are never going to tell u whats good n bad for your health!!! And that's fine if some people don't have money to buy organic food they are probably spending their money on medical costs because they come down with soo many health problems?? and for those who are even that poor well there are food stamps and with food stamps u buy food, so yeah now how are you going to tell me that people cant afford organic food?? >_< tell me tell me! okay fine yes maybe there some ppl that really cant afford it but if ur so rich u should help them out!! >_< One last thing Internet is more smarter then doctors more smarter then scientists!!

I should probably use it less although I don't use it excessively either. I do worry about using it some because I know 2 people who got thyroid cancer in there 30's and one though along with some other things that might have been linked to it.

I remember my mom's first microwave was an Amana. It was huge. That was 40 years ago and I don't know how I could get along without one today. My older children are always warning me about using it but hard habit for me to break.

microwaves are bad for you, causes cancer and so much more health problems! may not be today but in a few years u will see its results like look at how many ppl in this world suffer from cancer, diabetes, etc?? its from non organic food, microwaves, radiation, cell phones, and computers... But trust me there are ways u can still use ur cell phone still get food warmed up fast and be healthy and know that your going to be healthy when ur 45yrs old ;) u just need to go on the internet and search like swag bucks search or google search and find out!! <3 <3

How so? Microwaves have short wavelengths compared to radio waves, but long wavelengths compared to, say, visible light. They're not ionising radiation, so they don't cause cancer; exposure to ionising radiation can cause cancer, but ionising radiation requires high energy particles such as gamma rays or X-rays, since (as I really shouldn't presume you already know), the shorter the wavelength (and the higher the frequency), the more energy in the photon.

So if you want to argue that microwave exposure can cause cancer, then exposure to visible light must be far more dangerous; the frequency of microwaves tops out at 300 Ghz, while the frequency of visible light starts at 400 THz, some 1,000 times "more dangerous."

PS- if you want to know how microwaves cook food, it's because the oven passes microwaves through food causing electric dipoles (such as water molecules) to rotate to align themselves with the alternating electric field; rotating molecules hit other molecules, which puts them in motion, and this molecular motion is heat. However, basic laws of thermodynamics prevent the heat gained by the appliance's contents to exceed the energy output of the device itself, which is why microwave cell towers have no effect— they don't produce enough energy to cause any substantial increase in your body's temperature.

Were the microwave emitted by said appliance to pass through its door (which they can't; they have a wavelength of 122 millimeters and electromagnetic radiation can't pass through a gap smaller than its wavelength), you would immediately notice its presence, as it would cook you just as well as the food. It would not, however, cause cancer, as microwaves are, as previously noted, non-ionising radiation.

No, the reason so many people have cancer and diabetes is because most people live long enough to develop those problems rather than dying of starvation or smallpox while they were still young. Although obviously, the number of cancer cases diagnosed has increased simply because we developed the medical knowledge to be able to diagnose it more readily.

As for your other claims; the microwaves produced by your household appliance don't travel beyond the mesh in the door, the radiation exposure from cell phones and computers is approximately zero, and I'm not quite sure what you mean by "non organic food" as all food is organic by definition unless you're willing to count salt as a "food." In any case, food is a lot safer today than it was even a century ago.

And while it doesn't necessarily impugn the quality of your argument, I'd take your claims regarding physics and biology a lot more seriously if you figured out the basics o

Microwaves do travel beyond the door. All food is not organic. The reason people get diseases isn't because they live longer to develop them. Then you talk about physics and biology...wow, maybe take a class sir.

My comment got truncated by the 1,000 character fairy. The last paragraph was meant to say:

And while it doesn't necessarily impugn the quality of your argument, I'd take your claims regarding physics and biology a lot more seriously if you figured out the basics of capitalisation or how to spell the word "your."
