Not only on this day, but on every day, I think about the lives lost over a war we are fighting for nothing! I have a son-in-law that is in the Army, he and my daughter are expecting a baby and I worry that he will be deployed at any time.

I live a few blocks away from a VA hospital and let me just say the aftermath of "Serving Your Country" isn't pretty.... Putting more effort in voting for leaders with positive negotiating powers in a hostile situation will do our World an even bigger favor. I dont want to say how much I really know about this topic but after a service member returned home from the Iraqi conflict "wierd things started happening" . One night some unsuspecting spouse came home from work while the service member lay on the sofa, as the spouse walked by the service member (the one) started growling like an angry dog all while in a deep sleep. Never happened before the combat deployment...

I thank all the vets who served now, in the past, and the future. I don't agree with my country's methods (instead we should send politicians to go fight as well as congress/presidents/etc. instead of our good people,) but I must give appreciation to the people who defend it for you and me and other people.

On Rememberance Day I think about my uncle who was killed whilst being part of the Battle against the Bismark, a famous German Battleship. I also think of the tens of thousands of people who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure we enjoy the freedom we do today. I often wonder what things would be like if we had not defeated the Germans and Japanese. Now we have to live each day in fear that at any given time we could become a victim of a terrorist attack.
I really feel concerned about what sort of world my 9 Grandchildren are going to have to contend with as they grow up. Hopefully they are lucky enough to avoid any of the radical tactics that some people elect to take these days to get their message across.

Perhaps they are thinking of veterans as a whole, a group, instead of specific people. If they don't know (or don't realize they do) someone who's served they can still be thankful. Then again, to some people it's just another bank holiday.

Yes, I was just about to vote but scrolled down to get a better idea about what others thought of the question. I was tempted to vote "no one" because it was phrased "someone in particular" meaning an individual. As there isn't a particular individual who is close to me that has served, I think no one would have been the correct answer. I think of veterans as a group and am very grateful for their service. I guess multiple people would also be correct but that still didn't feel right as they as a collective than as individuals. Does this make sense? Kinda ambiguous answers to choose from imho.
