Speaking of PayPal, how do the PayPal gift cards work??? Does the gift card money go right into your bank account or is it applied towards your next PayPal purchase????
Surion
on 06/28/13
It's sent to your Paypal account. Think of Paypal as an online bank. From there you could send the money to your real bank account or use it in online stores.

NSA knows everything about you and you're scared of Swagbucks. Hi, NSA people! This is like asking anyone the first digit of their credit card while personal they aren't really getting any true info from you. By the way 3 is AmEx, 4 is Visa, 5 is Mastercard, 6 is Discover Card. Most of have now checked to see if this is true, haven't you? The only thing I won't do is use my SSN anywhere on the internet. I would be more scared of Facebook. People put everything there and people know your routine those who like to share everything that is.

Why would you ask a question like this? With all the identity theft that happens over the internet. You`re not going to get a true answer from a lot of people so this poll is null

Um, what personal info can they take? They just asked if you had one of those accounts what can they get if you say yes? So they know you have one, a lot of people do. I don't think it puts them any closer to hacking your account.

paypal is convenient, as with anything in this world that is convenient it costs money to use. It is not super expensive and is actually cheaper in fees to use for me than my actual bank charges. Look it up and see if it'll work for you. I have used it for a long time and have never paid 30 cents on the dollar like someone said. I have a paypal debit card and do not need to wait for money to go to my bank. Paypal works great and is widely accepted as a payment method.
bluela

Yes, super easy, just fork over all your personal information and be prepared for the 30 flat fee they take off every transaction (oh, plus other fees, of course!) And don't worry about the pesky bother of the process it takes to actually get PayPal funds to your real bank. PayPal will keep that money for you! (And earn the interest on it.) Oh yes, and even though they claim you can use a credit card instead of PayPal funds, if you really have any PayPal funds, you can't use a credit card---your PayPal funds will automatically be used instead, with no exception. So yes, by all means, join PayPal. They're almost as megalomaniacal, definitely as monopolistic, and possibly more dangerous than Facebook. Unfortunately, if you want to partake in online commerce in any significant way, they've cornered the market. I hope Dwolla is different.

Funny I have had a paypal account for several years and I don't have all the problems you seem to be crowing on about.
When I transfer money to my bank account it takes ONE DAY.... even though they say it may take 3-4 days.
BTW, that 3-4 days time WHEN AND IF it does is YOUR BANK, NOT PAYPAL.
My bank accepts the money the same day and it's posted that evening and ready for withdrawl the very next morning when my bank opens, so you might want to talk to YOUR BANK about why it takes so long.

Better yet, don't bother with paypal, I think it might be too complicated for you.

I have had a Paypal account for years because I have a business. I have never had any trouble with it as some below have said. Fees are low, not the exaggerated amount one person claims. Whenever I request to have my money transferred to my bank account it is always there in 48 hours. I also have the debit card and earn a cash back for using it. I love that, getting paid to spend my own money! I signed up for Dwolla through swagbucks but have not had an occasion to use it yet.

Dwolla looks like a nice competitor to PayPal. They have a flat 25cent fee to receive $10 or more. Otherwise no fee to send money to others, and no fee to transfer to your bank account. Nice! Plus for each person that you refer and joins, you get $10 in transaction fee credits. That's like receiving funds 40x!
