I guess I have been pretty lucky in that department, I usually get a TON of SB on searches. I, too, got 29 SB for a search yesterday. Often, I will just sit with my laptop, be watching TV with the husband, and search a tv show, or something that was on the show. Reality tv searches tend to pay off, and since we are total addicts to the best and worst of reality tv (a ridiculous guilty pleasure....good for a LOT of laughs!) ....it seems to pay off!

Just because you don't consider yourself employed doesn't mean others don't.
Sure, you don't go and work a job in an office or something so you're not employed in that sense. So yes I see why you say you're unemployed and I don't think you're wrong at all.
Being a mother is a full time job. "Employment" is paid work. Does it pay in money? No, but many could argue that as a mother you're certainly paid back in other ways. So yes I also see why amc5610 would say she's employed.

*shrug* You're both right in your opinions, just wanted to point that out.

ok....I have been reading the comments, and I have to say mburke92 ..... for a 21 year old "teenager" You are pretty wise!
I am a 48 year old mom of four and I absolutely believe that though I am not paid monetarily as a sahm, I am paid a million times over with the joy and love that my kids have given me since they were born, through out their lives to this point, and I absolutely see an amazing "PAY OFF" when I FINALLY am blessed with grandchildren to spoil the pants off of and love to pieces!

So....you are alright in my eyes....hell...you sound like a friend of mine who passed several years back! You are "good people" girl!

Its a pleasure to have "met" you!

I think the relative anonymity of the internet has something to do with it. Maybe also the general politically correctness trend that teaches people to be offended first and ask questions later. Just random guesses. I wish I knew. I think mandatory charm school for every citizen might keep us from destroying ourselves. I'm actually not joking. Imagine a world where people don't go into an offended all-about-me rant because someone says which poll answer they chose. That's exactly what happened here.

Fortunately, your unoffensive reply to my unoffensive reply to Iprenton's unoffensive reply is not under review, whereas mine is. For those who missed it and wonder what the replies mean, I said I too don't understand why people react so angrily to a simple question or comment these days. Kinda funny that some angry person flagged that inocuous observation, thus proving my point.

I'm unemployed due to a really bad work injury, several years back. Workers comp has run out, and I am just desperately doing anything and everything to come up with whatever I can get for my kids for Christmas this year. My financial situation is terrible too....I feel for your situation.
So I absolutely get where you are coming from....you are blessed to have a daddy like yours.....I am wonderfully blessed to have a few older children, who wonderfully help mom and dad keep the bills paid when needed, so their younger brothers can feel the financial security that they felt when they were their age.....before the injuries at work.
Truthfully....I AM THANKFUL for my bits and pieces of swagbucks, and other sites that I earn points, gift cards, cash, etc from! It makes things just a bit easier!
Enjoy Florida both of you!

Well once again there wasn't an answer that fit my situation so I chose unemployed. Actually I am self employed and I would use shop and earn but the swagbucks doesn't pay as much at the website I shop from as another reward site that just pays in real cash so I always shop through the other site.
mom2FABfour
on 09/25/13
Actually, there is a way you can use both (when I first started on Swagbucks, someone taught me this). Usually, it works.
If you go to your Swagbucks tool bar/search engine and type in the web address for the site that earns you real cash (type it in as a search) you will be taken to the results. You then click on the website via the search results, log in and you earn both swagbucks and cash. It is totally legit. If I recall correctly (sorry for the memory lapse, lol) a few years ago when I was told this, I emailed customer support and was told it was absolutely ok to do.
That way, you earn the cash, you use the SB search engine and you have met all TOS at both sites. Technically, you aren't double dipping, because one is for searching and earns SBs the other is for shopping through the site and you earn CASH.
If you are concerned about it, or need clarification, just email customer support.
Good Luck!

Unless you own your own business I don't see this as being something people could even do, or something that would be right to do. I don't work, but when I did the only things you could order were from the warehouse through an order form. You needed a manager's password to even get to the regular internet and then what you did was tracked. There would have been no way to do something like that.

I have done this once or twice for someone I have worked for in the past. I had their permission though. I asked them if they minded if I used my swag account since it would give me a certain percentage back and they said they didn't mind as long as it didn't cost them any extra and they weren't the one paying me the 6% back lol . guess it depends on your employer.

Many people have purchase cards (credit cards) to use to purchase supplies and things for their employer. My mother does. She orders office supplies and more they don't care where she orders from but they do like for her to look for lower prices. I would see nothing wrong with going through swag bucks shop and earn to make the purchase! It is not like what she would purchase would be going to her home. The employer still gets the supplies and it is no extra expense!

I don't own my own business, but there are times I need to buy things for work or work travel, and I do that on my own and get reimbursed for it. If I was booking a hotel and got SBs for staying at a specific website, that would be fine. I'm a Hilton Honors member so I do that instead, but there would be nothing wrong with me booking my reservation through Hotels.com and getting SBs for it in the process.

Okay I'm just gonna say this-agree, disagree, you're allowed to have your own opinion-if a stay at home mom wants to consider herself in some sense employed, then she is. If another stay at home mom says she's unemployed despite having the full time job of being a mother, then she's unemployed.
It shouldn't be that big of a deal what someone considers themselves. Not in these comments anyway. So I'm not quite sure why people are getting so worked up about it.

(Part 2, I forgot to mention this)
The thing about that teenager comment is that it almost seemed degrading in a way? I'm 21, though I've looked the same since I was 13 so believe me I don't blame you for thinking I'm younger. Yes I'm pretty young but that doesn't mean I'm incapable of seeing things from an outside point of view and forming an unbiased opinion about it. Maturity isn't defined by age. For example, I'd say this calm conversation we're having shows more maturity in both of us than in those involved in the vicious arguments and I don't even know how old you are. I could find out you're 10 and I'd still say that.
I'd also say that I've talked way too much so I should probably just post this now haha.

I don't think it necessarily brings out the best OR worst in them. I just think these moms have their own opinions (which is perfectly fine) but instead of having a calm conversation/debate about it or leaving it alone people are being rude to each other which seems unnecessary. I'm not trying to stop all the interaction, I mean if people want to keep bashing each other they can? (though again, I'm not sure what the point in that is exactly) I was just saying I feel as though everyone's responding to comments as though it's a direct attack on them, even if it was a simple harmless comment in the first place.
Also I wasn't taking any side. I actually think stay at home moms are both employed AND unemployed. But that's my personal opinion and if yours is different I respect that.
triathlon29
on 09/24/13
I think a lot of it has to do with our school system, in particular the college system that props up everybody's egos and parents on top of that who only required good grades and didn't enforce chores. Both as far as in home life and work life people can get really dramatic about any task that isn't exactly pleasant, but the reality is these tasks are a part of life. I think stay at home parents like to think of themselves as employed for ego purposes which is fine if they want to, but it doesn't really make a difference either way.
