the only dreams i have ever had were forced-even when i was a baby. so, my dreams are whatever i want them 2 be. or they r just my memories. somehow the subject came up yesterday & my brother ended up telling me that even when i was a baby i was suicidal. now that i quit having dreams like that, that i wasnt anymore.

I have very vivid dreams that are always in color. Scary thing is 85% or more of my dreams come true. I dream about family members divorcing before it happens. I dreamed I who I was going to date and end up marrying years and years before it happened (and I didn't even like him then). Dreaming that I was going to lose my parents and then years later my mom died of pancreatic cancer and my dad abandoned my brother and me. I dreamed I was going to sick and be in and out of hospitals so much that I would overcome my fear of needles and years and years later that also happened. I could go on and on...but I won't. : )

that someone lied to you. Last night I had a dream where me and my family moved to a different state, and in that dream, we all wore red shirts, so that we could keep track of each other at the airport... and the night before that...

Interesting this poll came up. I've been dreaming about a black tail in the ceiling corner of my roomfor a couple of days and yesterday was the first day I didn't dream it. I'm happy about that because it felt creepy but I wonder what it symbolized.?

my most recent dreams i dont see anything. my dreams involve me being woken up and feeling scared that someone is watching over me and i keep my eyes closed and i cant seem to move any of my body. then i wake up for real and im still scared and still dont want to move right away. weird bad dreams.

That's sleep paralysis. The feeling of being watched and being unable to move are extremely common with it. I've had it all my life, ever since I can remember. It's a terrible feeling! But it's nothing to be frightened of. Google it to know about the brain mechanisms that cause it, and you'll feel better. :)

I sometimes dream about people and places I know, but there are times that I've dreamed about completely new places and even vividly remember the faces of people in the dream world that I've never seen before in the real world.. often my dreams are really unusual, but always in color. most of the time I'm at the center of the dream and things are happening to me, in the first person, but at other times I'm observing a scene that has nothing to do with me. I've even become aware that I was dreaming before and took control over the dream, making things happen within it. sometimes one dream has transitioned into another, but usually I only remember the last dream I had or the two dreams seem discrete and I'm unaware of how I got from one to the other. I think dreams are very fluid and can be anything and in any color that people can imagine. I think they can really release a lot of deep creativity, that we aren't as likely to tap into when awake.

Maybe those of us who dream in color are more intelligent and have an active mind when we go to sleep. It is hard for me to get to sleep because I am always thinking. I used to write my dreams down and then decipher them from a Zolar book. Now days when I'm laying there thinking and I get an idea, I have to get up and write it down. Then I can go to sleep. I guess I should have been a screenwriter.

If you want, try listening to classical instrumental music to help you sleep. It's supposed to keep busy the part of your mind that distracts you and prevents you from relaxing and focusing. It helps with schoolwork too.

Everyone Dreams every night. This happens when you enter the stage known as REM (Rapid Eye Movement). Usually people simply do not remember them the next morning.
BlackIvy
on 02/16/13
alexaner liked this
Except that sometimes people don't devote enough time to sleep at one time to enter the REM cycle or something interferes with them reaching that level of sleep. Often people who drink alcohol before bed aren't able to enter REM sleep.... If a person drinks alcohol every night before bed and then quits suddenly, they then have very restless sleep that's full of vivid dreams; they are making up for a deficit of REM sleep.

Althought I believe most of us think that we dream in color, I'm pretty sure that we only dream in black and white. Unfortunatley, I do not know the scientific reasons behind it.

Nope, I definitely dream in colour. To this day, I remember a dream I had when I was a small child because certain colours played a substantial role in it.

I believe the dream is only based on how and what you are thinkig when you fall asleep, possibly if you were to fall asleep thinking black and white you would.

If that is the case why is it I often dream about things I have forgotten that I havn't thought of in years. I have also had dreams that partialy came true. I am patiantly waiting for winning lotto numbes and a date to play them lol. I have had dreams in color, black and white and both at once. Usually the ones in black and white have stuff blurred out that no matter how much I try I cannot see what is blurred out.

Actually, a quick search on google scholar shows that most studies suggest people do mostly dream in color. Although, one study by the American Psychological Society observed that older individuals may dream in color less frequently than younger ones. The researchers believe that aging is the cause, as opposed to lifestyle differences (i.e. having watching black and white TV for a number of years as opposed to having watched primarily color TV during one's life).

My Grandmother was blind and she dreamed in what she called fluorescent technicolor. I also have a deaf Aunt and Uncle. The Uncle says that he looks forward to sleeping because he hears music and sings along to it. My Aunt says that she dreams of hearing her grandchildren laughing.
