The human body already has a inheent scent. This is how we choose partners. Nothing smells better to another human than another clean well maintained body. Using artificial scent is a way to cover either a problem or laziness. Not to mention just plain rude. One should never wear scents in public space. Many, many people can not tolerate it for a variety of reasons.

I wear perfume only on occasion. I have family members who have asthma and allergies,so I am aware of how it will affect others. I think it's rude to wear so much perfume that a person 15 feet away can smell it.

There will never be a time in our lifetime when people will be considerate of those who get reactions to, or anything else. I've learned the hard way that no one cares about anyone else's problems. I have MS and rheumatoid arthritis, which makes a LOT of things very difficult for me. For instance: I can't go anywhere crowded, because I have bladder issues and I can't wait in line to pee. No one will ever let me go to the front of the line. I have a bunch more problems that make it difficult for me, so unfortunately I am limited in what I can do. My symptoms are "invisible", meaning that you can't tell by looking at me that I have anything wrong with me. I look like a normal 20-30 something, so no one is sympathetic of my challenges.

I am sorry to hear that. I have to agree, people are very selfish and always in a hurry. I have often let people cut in front of me in various lines, I hold the door for people, get a shopping cart for someone and I am teaching my son to do the same things. I believe that if you are able to help someone, you should. I wish you the best.

I was in the emergency room last week and one of the people had so much perfume on I almost started to gag. Thankfully they moved me out of that area rather quickly. You would think at a hospital people would be more sensitive.

Only when I'm dressed up for something special. Normally I try to avoid fragrances out of consideration for others. I once had a school counselor who was so allergic that she had a sign posted outside of her door about no wearing perfume allowed in her office.

I use potpourri oil as a perfume (sometimes mixed with real perfume, or alone). My favorites are "Kitchen Spice: and "Warm Cookies". Swear to God.

Most "scents" will trigger a migraine for me, therefore everything (lotion/detergent/deodorant/shampoo,etc)I use is unscented. My students are also asked to not wear perfume/cologne to school. I have had to leave plays, music concerts, church, movies, etc if someone around me has put on too much. It's not their fault that my body can't handle it...it's just nice for those who are considerate to people like me.

I am one of the allergic/asthmatics that can not tolerate the smell of perfumes. For those haters out there that think saying never is gross put yourselves in our shoes. We take baths so we don't stink. We just prefer to actually be able to breathe over wearing fake smells.

Fragrance... more is NOT better! I do pass some spray daily, BUT when I am going to a doctors office or the hospital I don't. I used to work with a person who had allergies and the entire school was off limits to even bathroom sprays. Back then I couldn't even spray a dash on me :(

I don't see how that is gross. It doesn't ask if you use soap or wear deodorant, just if you wear fragrance ie perfume. What's gross is having to plug your nose because the woman next to you has so much fragrance on you have an asthma attack and you don't have asthma! lol

May I take this time to speak for a multitude? I have Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and though I would absolutely love it if all fragrances were outlawed, I understand that it will never happen. However, please be mindful of those who are allergic to fragrances. If I am around fragrances, my entire body goes weak and I have to be carried or am bound to a power wheelchair. I also go into anaphylaxis. Many others I know go into full-blown anaphylaxis as well. If you choose to wear fragrance, please, please, please allow us the choice to not be exposed and limit the amount used to your own personal space. If someone an arm length away can smell you at all, it's too much. And if you see someone wearing a mask, don't immediately assume they are sick. They may be trying to avoid breathing your fragrance.

For those who are not aware, there are many fragrance-free products out there. We may go without fragrance, but we sure are clean. :o)

Thanks for liste

I so allergic to most perfumes. My nose just burns and my eyes itch when I'm around someone with perfume on. Perfume was invented to cover up body odor back when people only bathed a few times a year. If body odor is not a problem, please skip the perfume! I remember in college, in one of the classes I had to take in my major, the instructor told us to avoid wearing perfume because so many people can be subconsciously offended by it. You can loose clients if you wear a perfume they seriously don't like or are allergic to.

From reading the other posts (on 'other'), that is what I should have entered. I have asthma and perfumes is one of my triggers. I HATE it when people wear a lot of it (like they bathed in it). That can cause an attack with my just walking by them. I wish others would realize how that could affect people. It could cause other health issues as well.

In general, no I don't wear it. I can't stand walking through the perfume section of the stores because so many people have to spray it on themselves. More than once I have walked by someone who over did it and either had to run to the bathroom and throw up, or I've thrown up right there next to them (not purposely, but strong scents make me extremely sick).

I am finally back home from work, I am surprised of the results of the poll. Does anyone know that fragrances are chemicals that harms your body? if you clean yourself up then you would not need these fragrances. the only purpose I can think of to justify using them is to make another person attracts you. like most people here in the post fragrances has negative reactions it causes throat to closed up, coughing even at sometimes vomit. I fail to understand why people still use fragrances?
